Stunning Turn-Around In Omaha City Finances

More budgeting and planning genius down at the mayors office. Looks like they can't do math either. How do you just miss 7.6 million dollars when you are trying to figure out your budget? There aren't that many people in the world that can be this bad at their job and still keep it.

Did you even read the article? Sales tax collected from this May was 32% higher than the last, Junes tax collection was 7% higher, and several million dollars where saved through police and firefighter attrition.

But why didn't they use the correct numbers in the first place? They slop together some jank budget plan without all of the facts and proper numbers and in 5 years complain because the budget is messed up.

The numbers are published quarterly so it may be hard to prognosticate what the numbers will be when making up a budget. In this case they came out better than expected.

The sales tax numbers lag, and you never know what you are going to get until the check from the state arrives in the mail. Plus, it would be irresponsible to plan for a 32% increase.
