Very little relationship between the debt and economic strength, but let's not get sidetracked.

Main library should stay in downtown because I go there during lunchtime.
But, to be serious, it is a good location to make it easily accessible (by bus) for all the impoverished neighborhoods of South Omaha, North Omaha and the Council Bluffs.

I am wondering, if it will hurt business of B&N if the put a library inside the same mall B&N is in...

How about just minding your own business? Unless these people are acting up and causing a disturbance they have as much right to be there as you do. How can you be so sure all of these students are cutting classes? If you are so upset over the kids you are certain are playing hooky, talk to the staff. It's their call not yours with regard to whether they are allowed to stay. You could always try to make a citizens arrest with one you think is playing hooky and see how far that gets you. Or call the cops, or the school and complain. As far as the guys from the mission, you might show a bit of empathy for them. You have no idea what they been through or how you would react yourself had you been in their shoes. Don't be so bloody judgemental.

As far as high school alumni, the administration might welcome suggestions and help from parents of current students, but I'm not sure how they would feel about former students that graduated years ago wanting to but in and tell them how to run the facility if they didn't have kids going there. I doubt it would be too well received unless they thought the alumni was planning to give them a large gift of some sort.

I always thought the Omaha downtown library was one of the ugliest building I ever saw, and very poorly planned with that parking lot set up. Still why close the main library and keep the smaller, lesser traffic branches open, that makes no sense at all.

not neccessarily. B & N will always be a success. It has books and magazines and resources that the library dont.

plus it would be likely a boon for the UNO and also the Hipster crowds from Benson and Dundee areas

btw:

North Omaha has 2 libraries (3 if you count Benson 's) , South Omaha has the one at the Metro Campus in South Omaha and the in CB is on near 4th and Broadway.

they btw plan to build a small library in downtown omaha

after the main library moves a bit to the west to crossroads mall into a bigger and better location

(which btw, crossroads mall u access the 2 or 8 or 13 or 18 or 92 bus routes to get to btw)

so there will still be a library in downtown omaha, but it wont be just as big as the main location currently is.

Really? Because Amazon has books and magazines and resources that B & N dont. For a fraction of the price.

I don't know why anyone would want to move the flagship library out of Downtown. The current one isn't much to be proud about but a new one...a real impressive new one...would be a good idea.

maybe cause it would be in a better and more centralized area of the city.

besides, it time for Omaha to move FORWARD and be in a better part of the city where the main flagship library can serve a more diverse crowd of people.
