I am moving to Omaha the first week of November and I was wondering what anyone with experience thought about downtown lofts/apts. I am a 23 yr. old single, college graduate looking for a 1 bed/studio in or right around Old Market. I've looked on craigslist/forrent.com/etc but I always feel those who live there know best...Thanks for your help

What is your price range per month? There's lot of different offerings for what you're looking for, and the prices vary with different amenities.

Anything $600 per month and below would be fine. I'm just now beginning my career and I'm taking location rather than luxury...

1600 Farnam is pretty cool, not sure what the rents are, but the purchase price is low (under 100K) so I would imagine rent lines up accordingly.

Not too many apartments in the Old Market are < $600 a month (most are 800+). Most of the apartments you'll find in this price range are drastically different from the standard Old Market Apartments with prices of 800-1300+ (such as Old Market Lofts, JLofts, The Renata, Old Market Place).

Here are some ideas:
- Skinner Macaroni Apartments (13th & Jackson): There might be some apartments here in your upper price range. These are my favorite of the ones on this list (and the most expensive).
- Orpheum Tower Apartments (16th & Howard): I think some studios are in this range. I like these apartments.
- The Conant (19th & Dodge): Some cheaper apartments, starting around 400. And a 5-10 minute walk to the Old Market.
- The Rorick (22nd & St Mary): Also cheap. Never dealt with them however
- Drake Court Apartments (21st & Leavenworth): Not sure about the price but it seems like it should be reasonable.

Are any of these apartment buildings smoke-free?

Is Skinner Macaroni smoke-free? I was under the impression that with the new Smoke-Free Nebraska legislation, you can't smoke inside any buildings anymore.
