I'm flying in and out of omaha twice coming up... is eppley in danger of this flood? I'd hate to be stranded.

As of right now it comes down to if you trust the levees or not. The river is high enough to the point that a breach would put the airfield under about 10 feet of water. Officials are saying the levees are still good, but you never know with this much water.

They're working hard to keep Eppley dry, so unless something catastrophic happens you should be fine.

At this point the river is still 5-6 feet below the top of the levee, so it's highly unlikely that there will be a problem. Sure there is always a chance, but in this case it's in the cities favor. One thing to remember is the levees held in 1952 when the river hit 40.2 feet and the river today is at just over 35 feet.

I've mentioned this elsewhere in this forum, but I think Eppley is one of the nicest airports I've ever been to. It's so clean that you could almost eat off the floors. I really do hope it's not in any immediate danger of being flooded out. I'm thinking good thoughts for all of you good folks in Omaha.
