I took I-29 to the Glenwood exit and took HWY 34 to HWY 59 and took that until it meets back up with I-29 in Craig, just north of Mound City.

What do you guys think about the 75 south to Highway 36 to St. Joseph route?

Or how about the Highway 6 east to Highway 59, then south to Craig? This gets you back on I29 before Mound City.

How much more time did it add to the trip by going this route?

I don't think it's very much at all. Maybe a half hour. This might also depend heavily on traffic.

Taking 75 to 36 and finally heading back south on I-29 at St. Joseph seems like the straightest route.

I was thinking of starting a separate thread for my question last night, but since this one's still hot...I'd like to semi-hijack it to ask, what the current recommended route for travel to Kansas City is?

Whenever I search on Google, it tells me that there may be closures & I am guessing that's on I-29 due to the flooding.

Yes, I-29 is closed due to flooding. The Nebraska Department of Roads is maintaining a site to provide flood updates. They want you to take I-80 into Iowa, then I-35 South to either HW 36 to head west into St. Joseph or just continue on I-35 which will eventually take you into eastern KC.

But the construction on 75 wasn't too bad when I went to KC in June, so I don't see any issues with taking 75 to 36 and picking I-29 up in St. Joseph.

I got off at Glenwood and went over to Hwy 71. I think there were signs on 71 all the way through Maryville that said it was an alternate route to I-29 so I'm not sure if that means its the quickest route or not. Anyway, I took that and did'nt seem so bad. It turns into 4-lane after the Maryville by-pass.
