I just read in the paper about the near-completion of the jLofts at 13th and Jackson. The downtown condo market seems to be thriving. However, I have heard absolutely nothing about the new 32-story WallStreet Tower for a long time. Does anyone have any updated information about when the tower is going to be built?

Townsend (the developer) speaks as if the project is a go, however, I seriously doubt it happening anytime soon if at all.

The longer this project sits with no action, people are going to start yankning their deposits.

They have resorted to converting some condo units into upscale apartments if that tells you anything.

If they were smart they would have had more apartments from the beginning. There is a shortage of rentals Downtown.

That's it and along with several other things:

1)At what point do you start losing as many deposits as you gain while being just 2-4 sales short?

2)How many people are just waiting for the project to start before they make their decision?

Economy or not, condo's and rentals are in demand in downtown, the bank is being rather obnoxious right now, and it hurts themselves as much as the project managers..

Bingo! And at what point to you either inject "Townsend, Inc's" capital into the project just to get it off the ground or SCRAP the damn thing. (Or is there no liquidity at Townsend?)

That site can be solicited with another RFP as is.

Nah, they've demolished a building and left a big hole in the ground. The showroom is the only thing that's been built and the units aren't very impressive given the price ranges and square footage that's offered.

Maybe that's just my opinion?
