Shaky's? Wow! I haven't heard of that joint since the early 90s in California!

I too would LOVE to see In-N-Out Burger in Omaha. I also would like to see White Castle here as well, perhaps even a jack in the box just for something a little different in the mix.

Better food, cheaper prices, consistent product. LOTS of reasons. ALL my 1 star ratings on yelp are small independent restaurants(mainly for grease burgers or charcoal, and also price) and all my 4 and 5 star are national or local chains. So for some, chains are just better. Not really that hard to understand.

Some local chains are good, but national? Not even close to better food than many local places (I can't speak for all local places). How many mediocre burger chains does Omaha need?

It reminds me of the people up here who were so excited for Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse to come to town. We live in cattle country and have plenty of good local places to get a great steak (for a very reasonable price)and these people just want chains. I'm sure they are the people who frequent Starbucks.

As for price, that excuse doesn't work. National chains are far from inexpensive.

Shakey's is awesome. There was one in Iowa City and it was great! (It's now an Old Chicago Pizza) I would love to go there when I'm in Omaha.

We pretty much have it all but recently 5 Brothers opened up. I understand you have them in Omaha. I thought the burgers were very good although a bit pricey. Just like In and Out everything is made fresh to order.

I went to 5 Guys for the first (and only) time a few months ago. Lunch for 3 ran me over $30. I'm not a cheapskate, but that's too expensive for burgers. Also, I didn't like the way they didn't have combo meals, and the way the fries came.

Believe what you will. I deal with close minded people like you daily(mainly in the old market, a place that could use more choice, more variety) and have learned not to waste my time. As I said, I have tried many local restaurants (and make a point to do so every week) and have ALWAYS left disappointed and ended up paying more than if I had gone to a national chain. Just because it's a national chain dose not mean they have sub par food or products.

And don't bother to reply, for as I said I have learned not to waste my time with closed minded people and you will not get a response. If you learn to at least consider a national chain then we can talk, but till then.
