I'm surprised that BOTH Omaha locations closed. I'm from Des Moines, and we've had our two locations for as long as I can remember. The South Side (SE 14th & Indianola) location is something to be desired, but the Merle Hay Road location is MUCH nicer. I know it's cheap pizza, and personally I like Cici's Pizza over Pizza Hut, Pizza Ranch, AND Godfather's Pizza buffets any day. Where else can you find pasta cavatapi alfredo, monkey bread and Big Mac pizza anywhere else??? I did have the ultimate terrible experience at a CiCi's once, but that was in Southern Indianapolis, Indiana.

BTW...does anyone remember the Omaha (or the current Lincoln) locations serving the Big Mac pizza? I tried asking for it in Indianapolis, and they thought I was nuts! But THAT location didn't have the alfredo sauce either (they told me they were getting it in September...it was June at the time).

Sucks they BOTH closed in Omaha, though.

btw, they still got the cici's pizza sign up at oakview location.

place is still empty.

guess with the obama spend and tax economy, no one has decided to buy the old cici's location.

godfathers I agree is the clear winner in the local pizza wars, with zio's and pizza ranch in 2nd and 3rd

Godfathers is ok, but there are a handful of local places (Sortino's, Lansky's and the aforementioned Zio's to name a few) which are far better.

So you feel that Obama and the economy is to blame for the CiCi's location being empty? Quite the position considering we've seen solid economic improvement since shortly after Obama took office. Even more questionable considering that Omaha was relatively unaffected by the recession and new businesses are opening up all over the city.

Here are some more likely scenarios.

- Property being potentially over priced for rental or purchase.

- Bad location.

- Location ill suited to other types of businesses.

Mangia Italiana is good too. The Sortino's (Sammy Sortino's) that I went to is long gone, sold out to Wal Mart. Frank's has a good pie, closest to NY style that I have had.

Doubtful. The location is less than desirable, and it has no visibility. Unless you were going to PetsMart or Famous Footwear, you would have no idea that place existed. Also considering you would have to hire an environmental crew to clean up after their toxic food, it's no wonder no one is interested in the property.
