Give this excellent story on Omaha a read when you get a chance:

Kelly: The metro area is a thriving mix of people and places. - Omaha.com

There's a lot going on here and the city continues to get better every day.

It is a great place, but the city needs to market itself better nationally.

I've travelled the US a fair bit and had even visited Council Bluffs and Omaha once before moving here. Most of the great stuff about the city I had never heard of though.

From a lot of what I have seen about the city's projected growth over the next few years the best chance the city has to maintain its quality of living is to get the message out and attract newcomers from inside the US as well as outside the US. I just don't think there are enough skilled people available in Nebraska and the surrounding states that Omaha to meet the coming needs.

Chances are that Omaha will get these skilled people sooner than later. Word is getting out little by little that Omaha is going through a 'Renaissance' (IMO similar to Des Moines) as the piece provided by the OP indicates. The city has many attributes and people are discovering that Omaha is a good place to live, work and invest. They will come. Personally, I can't wait to visit the city and surrounding areas. I'm from Southern California.

-Cheers!

My son and his family (including my grandkids) moved to Omaha from SoCal about a year ago. They lived in SoCal for 25 years.

I haven't been to Omaha yet to visit them, but they all rave about their move during every telephone call. They are very happy they made the decision.

I can't wait to see Omaha for myself....
