We are planning a trip to the zoo either this weekend or the first weekend in April. Can anyone recommend good hotels, things to see, etc? We will be traveling w/ two children, so the cheaper the better! Thanks for any help!

if you're just staying for one or two nights and don't want to spend much money on a hotel, I'd personally just stay at the Comfort Inn right by the zoo at the 13th Street exit. If not that one and you don't want to spend the money to stay downtown I'd either stay in Council Bluffs or off the 72nd Street exit. Keep in mind that the Ramada(?) on 72nd has an indoor water park (Coco Key Water Resort Omaha), but I don't know much about it

It depends on what you are looking for. Downtown is a blast and really bustling. In fact we get lots of great comments like the actor in Nebraska said he loved it and even heard omaha referred to the Portland of the Midwest, and the host of bar rescue said he has only seen a few downtowns in America that is as special as ours.

So, a few extra dollars may be worth it for you.
