Marlon Brando, Fred Astaire, and Peter Fonda? Not too shabby!

Thanks again for all your help.

Almost forgot, there are small independant theaters. One is Downtown at the Slowdown called the Sokoloff Theater. I've been there for a few shows. They do lots of documentaries, froriegn films, and re-runs of classic movies. The also show movies from the national film fests that don't turn into mega hits.

The Dundee theater in Dundee (obviously) shows limited release movies too but they also show a lot of cult movies at midnight on Friday and saturday. Movies like Rocky Horror, A Clockwork Orange, Night of the Living Dead. Those are fun to go to.

They are also opening a new theater in Midtown by Mutual of Omaha that will show mainstream movies but they will be shown in a lounge setting for adults only (21+) and you can order food and drinks.

The AMC by Oakview also shows some independant movies but I know it's not all the time though and during slow times.

I live in Papillion and a reverse commute will not be bad at all - there are pretty good alternatives so once you learn those and the various traffic patterns you can avoid any traffic that there might be... nothing to worry about.

Well, that's pretty darn good. I have family who live in Denver Colorado, you'd think a big enough city to have art house theaters, but that's one of their biggest complaints. They wanted to see the Oscar nominated films this year, and they had to go to their vacation place in Santa Fe NM to do so!

So, now, the only concern I have left is the safety issue if my kids choose to go to the North & South Magnet Schools. I started a new thread about that (i.e. gang activity). Do any of the regulars on this forum have High School age kids? Thanks again.

Dave1215, how do you like Papillion? How does it compare with living in/around midtown? Is it very, very suburban? Do you know your neighbors well? The homes are so nicely priced in Papillion/Lavista, it's hard to completely ignore it as a potential home base.

I love Papillion; however, it is suburban... with you specifically looking for Urban/Artsy I would recommend the previous choices that were mentioned..... if you do decide that you want to move out from downtown/midtown then I would put Papillion at the top of the list.

Papillion still has a small downtown, a little of an older town with houses of character and a fantastic park systems, so it still has an character/identifity of its own (it was a small town prior to Omaha growing to it so its not pure suburbia - founded in 1870). It has a very good school system. Low crime. In the city itself, the city taxes are the lowest in the metro area.

From an arts perspective, there is a fantastic community band, a very good community theatre group, a very nice regional outdoor amphitheatre, music in the park on Sunday nights in the summer, and music at the mall on Friday nights in the summer.

Although this is a month-old post, some great points here.
I have been researching Aksarben Village and wonder about noise levels for residents who are leasing there. With all the tourism and night life, would relaxing or entertaining out on one's patio not really work? Perhaps, they already considered that when planning and placed the residential area farthest away from the hum. I can't get the links to open on their website. I'll call Grubb Ellis later, but wanted an objective opinion first. Thx.

Once construction ends at AkSarBen Village I wouldn't be concerned with noise... there is nothing around there that would increase beyond what would be normal in a midtown urban enviornment.

That's fair. I've not lived in that type sphere before. Thx.
