Default ....

I lived in vegas for a year up until last august...
I usually suggested South Coast Casino which was like 2-3 miles south of the strip, it would be as low as $59 a night, I think they changed the name of it, but if you google south coast casino you'll get all the info right there...

Hi raindrops!

Ehenningsen is right, the South Coast is now South Pointe Casino, it's kind of far from the strip and not in the best of areas but it is cheap. If you look on orbitz or directly at the casino websites you might be able to get the same deal at some of the strip casinos...maybe not the Bellagio but Excalibur, NY NY and maybe the older ones.

It all depends on how you want to spend your vacation. But I've been to Vegas many times, and here's what I recommend:

Don't stay at Southcoast. It's way too far from everything--you're like 20 minutes from the strip, and will not be able to enjoy all Vegas has to offer.

Stay at Tuscany. http://www.tuscanylasvegas.com/. It's really nice, all the rooms are suites (therefore roomy) , and it has a nice pool area. Yet the place is quaint, and you are close enough to the Strip to see all the other casinos.

I like the water shooting out in front of Bellagio. They have a large indoor Ferarri dealership at Wynn. Fun to look at.

Eat a good buffet at the Rio Seafood Buffet. (They have lobster tails, $37.00 for the buffet). Rio also acts like it's MArdu Gras every 3 hours or so in the whole Casino. They have these dancers on platforms attached to the ceiling and they throw beads into the crowd. Shop at the Forum Shops in Caesar.

To go to a Club, try Pure at Caesar, or Tao at the Venetian. Body English is good too-its at the Hard Rock--but hard to get into if your girl-guy ratio is off. They want lots of girls in there.

So, have fun, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!

PS Take a taxi to go from one point to another (if its too far away to walk), that way you can enjoy the free drinks at the table without worrying.

cafe du monde,

You are right...very good information. I would've written more on mine but I was rushing out when I started posting. Also, may want to take a cab from the Tuscany to the strip if it's really late (just to be on the safe side). The Tuscany is a very nice hotel and will not be as pricey as the strip ones which is nice since you can spend that money at the buffets. The Bellagio offers a great Sunday Brunch also...as far as attractions, the Bellagio Fountains are beautiful as well as their themed "botanical garden" inside. The Venitian has the relaxing gondola rides, the TI has the Sirens of TI show, the Mirage has the Sigfried & Roy Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, they also have the volcano (this ones kind of lame but entertaining nonetheless). The Aladdin has been turned into the Planet Hollywood Hotle & Casino and has added some great stores for shopping, there's the M & M/Coca Cola store right down by the MGM Grand and the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef. I can go on and on but I'll stop now as I may have bored you guys to death!. It is a fun place to visit...and just to warn you there are canvassers in every corner (they are the guys/gals who distribute porn pamphlets and cards). BTW...we're actually looking to relocate to Omaha...any advice for a family of 3 1/2 (DH, Myself, 4 year old boy, 3 year old dog). Thanks!

The best value I found was the double decker bus service on the strip. You can get on or off at most anyplace along the strip. A 24 hour pass for the bus is only $5. My wife and I never waited more then 5 minutes for one to come by and we had been able to get to see many of the other things that we wanted.
