another dumb criminal story and brilliant way to catch the bad guys

========================================

Omaha police took at least three people into custody Tuesday after a robbery at Big Red Keno on 78th & Cass Street. Police say the same suspects also robbed two keno patrons.

The robbery was first reported at 12:55 a.m. Within minutes, 911 dispatchers and Omaha police were tracking the movement of the money that was stolen through a device placed in the money bag.

Officers eventually set up a perimeter around 45th and Izard St. while the police helicopter circled above the scene. Channel 6 cameras were there when at least three men were taken into custody.

Omaha police say the police helicopter also located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description at 45th and Seward Street. Officers located two firearms during a search of the suspect vehicle and the apartment.

Investigators say the suspects also stole the wallets of two men at Big Red Keno. It's not clear if the wallets have been found.

Police say the investigation continues and not all the suspects have been booked yet.

I heard the helicopter overhead and turned on the ol' internet police scanner and listened in as they closed in. The helicopter was using FLUR to read heat signatures. it was pretty cool.

This is true. . I knew someone that worked at a bank when it was robbed. The robber demanded this persons car keys. She relunctantly handed them over, thinking to herself, great I've just lost my car.

Well, the ink pack exploded so the robber dropped the money and ran to the car, got to the car and realized he doesn't know how to drive a stick, so he ditched that and took off on foot.

Epic fail.
