Hello All,

After reading about the large amount of pothole repairs that must be completed in Omaha by the summer, I was hoping some of you could provide a status on specific roads or areas to avoid that are still in need of improvements.

My friends and I will be arriving late next week and are very likely to drive many of the major & secondary roads in Douglas and Sarpy counties, including some residential sections. I would hate to become stuck due to some pothole and appear like an out-of-towner interrupting the flow of traffic.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Most of the potholes have been filled. You'll have no real problems.

Even when the potholes are at their worst, I've only known one person who's blown a tire due to a pothole. Mostly you just hit the hole hard and cringe...

I have a nephew & his wife who blew out either 2 or 3 tires, and bent the rims, this past winter. I have no idea how they managed to do that, unless they just speed up and drive over whatever happens to be in the way.

I know someone that popped a tire. It was a big enough bump to break the seal around the rim.

There was that lady from out of town I saw on the news that did something really bad like break the transmission off in the engine or some dumb thing. . Ruined her car. . Basically totalled it.

But. . Those were all during winter. The worst of them have been filled. There shouldn't be any car killers out there at this point. You're not at any higher risk than any other city street in the country having a random hole in it.
