Mom and Pop shops are about $65/hour. Retail Mechanics are $85 (like goodyear), and Dealerships are about $110.

Once in a while you find some @ $45. Mostly I find $65 - $85. I have never been charged $110, I woudl go bananas if I got a bill for $110/hour.

I heard you can get free labor if you let students at community colleges do the work. The only problem is it could take a whole semester to get your car fixed.

ha, was just going to mention that. Back in the day I took auto shop at my high school and I would always take my car to their little shop to get oil change and basically anything else. The kids would do the oil change (since its easy) but for more complicated stuff the teacher would do the work and show the kids how its done. Labor was completely free just had to buy parts. Also actually it won't take a whole semester. Oil change is 15 minute job. More complicated stuff is less than an hour. When you have 5-10 kids helping you out you can get the stuff done pretty quickly.

You keep starting the same thread over and over again, you hoping to get a different answer? Once you even say someone erased the thread, not so.

Maybe he owns a shop. Remember the threads about commercial kitchens a year or so ago?

No, I don't own a shop.
My friend lives out there and I am helping his son get in the business.
17 or so years ago when I was in it we were on a commmission basis here in Texas.
So I was trying to give him an idea of what a person could make in California as that is where he lives.

And yes someone had deleted one of my posts. It said it there at the time.

I wanted to get the mechanical repair rate
and the Auto Body repair rate.....

Guess I bothered someone with my questions?

Not bothered at all, you just keep asking the same question over and over again in new threads. You will get better results letting a thread grow and rephrase your questions as it grows.
