My recall of Saddleback Valley topography is often sketchy but I believe that was the spot. I was living in ET off Trabuco at the time. It was definitely more than 20 years ago as I've been gone from CA that long. I'm gonna say the mid to late 80s.

Sorry. The scary thing to me is it doesn't feel like it was all that long ago.

Epic long Cinco de Mayo bump!

I'm in town for the next day or two looking for a place.

I want cheap margaritas! Anyone know any fun times happening tonight at one of these places?

THe most authentic places that i have encoutered usually do nto have a name. They just have a sign that says "Taco," or "Food," or something in Spanish.

Extra good if there is a muffler shop next door.

That muffler shop probably belongs to the mayor of Santa Ana.

Just look for the places where Latinos go. That's where you will find the authentic shee-it.

You will not find many Mexicans buying dinner at El Torito...

Believe it or not, in the culinary wasteland of Rancho Santa Margarita (South OC) there's a great little home-style Mexican restaurant called La Fiesta Mexican Grill. It's family run so you can ask the Mexican grandma and grandpa who work there how 'authentic' it is.
