I posted this in the LA thread when I should have been posting here...

Please advise!

"I've done my research as far as location, and I've narrowed it doen to three apartment complexes in the downtown area. They are: Pinnacle at Fullerton (E. Commonwealth ave.), City Pointe (Chapman ave.), & Wilshire Promenade (Wilshire ave.).

The reviews online are all varying from terrible to good (depending on the reviewer). Complaints tend to be about the loud college kids in the area, but are then viewed as pros because of the location to bars, restaurants, etc...

Any advice on picking from the 3?"

It seems like they're pretty comparable among each other. The only thing I have to add is that I live in another Pinnacle apartment, and although the apartment building itself isn't laid out very well, no complaints with the management so far. And if anything, the security guards are pretty good in trying to enforce the noise rules.

Save your money and get an apartment from a private owner. There are literally dozens of them in Fullerton and a number still within walking distance of downtown. I lived in a couple of good ones for a number of years...I can give you addresses if you wish, though I can't speak for today's rents.
