...the residential street in Laguna Beach where every house had an animated Christmas scene in front of it -- anyone else besides Fontucky, that is? It was a must see each Christmas in the 50s and 60s and people from all over would come, park and walk along the sidewalk viewing the almost shadow box scenes with moving figures and Christmas music.
Alas, as society became coarser and less civil, acts of vandalism in the late 60s or 70s seem to have spelled the end of this lovely wonder.
Just an old and pleasant/precious memory of a better time.
I 'member!!! but I was just a small pup back then. There was another one in Long Beach called "Santa Claus Lane" that my folks used to take us kids to. Merry Christmas Curmie!!!
Me. My dad used to pile us in the car and we'd make the rounds. There were several cities that had pockets of houses all decked out. What I remember most were a lot of houses had actual manager scenes. One house on Euclid in LaHabra(?) decorated through the 80's at least.
Then there was our neighbor who put a, "Bah! Humbug! sign in the front yard with a spotlight on it. He was fun lol.

I don't remember that but I do remember Hasting Ranch in East Pasadena. the entire community would have the same yard displays yearly, whether it was front yard Christmas trees, deer or whatever. We used to take the kids and drive though the neighborhood every holiday season. BTW, it was upper Hastings Ranch.
