I hear things are bad, just how bad is it? My job is being transfered to OC and as a result my wife has to find a new job. She holds a BS degree in business and looking for Account receivable/billing, customer service type jobs? Does she have a chance? Should we wait until things improve? has the job market improved at all? Appreciate feedback from OC locals.

sure she stands a chance. there's almost always a need for skilled accountants. depending on her experience, she may have to take a lower level position for the time being, but she should be able to find something in the accounting field.

Well she is really not in the accounting field, rather customer service. Dealing with collections and managing customer accounts. Has the Job market improved in OC, since last year?

It’s certainly a good sign that venture capital firms are sinking money into Orange County.

O.C. venture capital investments soar in 2010

O.C. venture capital investments soar in 2010 - Jan Norman on Small Business : The Orange County Register

Young, high-growth companies in Orange County raked in $638.8 million in 2010, 151.9% more than in 2009, primarily driven by investments in electric car manufacturer Fisker Automotive in Irvine.

But the number of deals also increased 43.5% to 66, so more companies are benefiting from the comeback venture capital equity investment made last year, according to the MoneyTree Report by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the National Venture Capital Association based on data from Thomson Reuters.

Nationwide venture capital funds invested $21.8 billion in 3,277 deals, up 19% in dollars and 12% in deals compared to 2009, the MoneyTree Report said. And in the fourth quarter, $5 billion was invested in 765 deals, a 2% increase in dollars and 3% decline in deals.

AR jobs aren't that hard to find, but you're probably going to make around 35k tops unless you slide into a management/supervisory position.

I live on Orange County and the job market has improved quite a bit in the last 6 months. I've seen a lot of temp-hire opportunities pop up also.

You can check our local job board here www.hireoc.com
Cheers!

I was answering OP's question and providing him with a legitimate source.
