Why should anybody stay in Seattle when there is a place like Orange County. Is it just money?

I've read your other post and it sounds like you're really anxious to get out of the liberal Mecca of Seattle. I used to work there back in the mid 90's but it isn't a place I'd want to live only because it's not "me." But before you make a jump to OC, have a look around in WA state first - east of the mountains if sun is what you seek. I don't know what you do for work, but if you can line up something east of the Cascades, you know it's much drier and much cheaper. If snow's a problem, then simply check eastern WA off your list.

the grass always seems greener but in this case it won't be. we have not had rain here in a loooong time. appreciate the beauty that surrounds you, not to mention the low price of housing.

Seattle is the gloomiest city in the US. I would live in a lot of other places before there.

Seattle has a vibrant downtown and majestic beauty. I prefer the warm weather and beaches of Orange County, but those that value cities would likely prefer Seattle.

Do you have a job lined up?

I would move to Seattle (went to college there for 4 years), but the salaries are not in line with the cost of living anymore. I can make double in LA/OC and although the housing is more, the other stuff isn't.

What do you do that pays double in LA/OC?

I lived in OC till I was 27....then I lived in Seatlle for a few years.....

Maybe some of you don't understand that both places are SUPER expensive for housing now !

I do prefer OC because that to me is home...Seattle has its nice points as well.

I have owned several homes in my life...and it looks like I would never be able to move back to OC or Seattle.

I was just offered a well paying job with my company back in the Seattle and one in Texas, I took the one in Texas because I would not have been able to afford a home in Seattle.

The house I sold in Seattle a few yrs ago for 135K is now worth 350K....If I would have moved to Seattle I would have had to pay over 400K to be in a nice area and to have a home big enough for my family.
I settled on the coast of Texas , where we bought a 1850 sq ft home for 150K.

If you can afford OC......that's where I would go.

Laguna Woods is a seniors only community/city. You must be 55 or older to live there. If you are 55 or older, it is great because the homes are much less expensive (because only seniors can live there). Laguna Woods is the city, but every home in the city is a part of Laguna Woods Village Senior Community Association. If you want to be surrounded by people that age, it has lots of planned activities and excursions and is a great way to meet people.
