No kidding. I worked with a guy who was about 25 and hurt himself playing basketball. The doctor said "Well you're not 16 anymore."

You should not go into a job interview with the idea that you know it all. That's a warning sign to a restaurant manager. They want people who will be responsive to what THEY think is best. Maybe downplay the "been there done that" approach and focus on the "I want to be part of the team" approach. And again, a manager will be reluctant to hire an over-qualified server because they know that the OQ server will not be a long-term employee.

Plus, there are lots of college graduates and former professionals who have taken to waiting tables as a means to get by. The old adage, smaller pond and more fish certainly applies here...
