My husband starts commuting next week and has equal options into SNA and ONT at 9:45am (by the time he gets to his car and leaves)...what is a rough estimate of commute time to City of Industry at that time of morning from both, and which routes would you recommend? Please respond if you frequent these routes. Also, Friday flights out are 3:30pm (to the airport at 2:30)...would there be a preference to ONT or SNA for that schedule with traffic consideration? Similar commute time or does it beat the typical rush hour? Any input would be appreciated greatly!

Ont -> Industry is with Traffic

Sna -> Industry is against traffic

Ontario is MUCH closer to Industry. Its roughly 20 miles from Ontario Airport to Industry compared to 30 from SNA. There is no traffic advantage and the drive times are outside of traditional commutes, although traffic can happen anytime in Southern California.

I would pick Ontario. Its a nice, uncrowded, virtually empty airport. Security will be a breeze, unlike SNA which can get very very busy and overburdened.

Friday afternoons and Monday mornings are the busiest times at airports. SNA can have looong lines to get thru the TSA screeners. If you choose SNA, allow at least 90 minutes for the "process". 2 hours would even be better.

I am not sure how busy the TSA screeners are in Ontario but if that is an option, I would certainly suggest using Ontario in your case. I know that Ontario is under-utilized and the new terminals are quite nice as compared to the old ones.
