Has anyone flown out of SNA recently? Is the airport still without any enhanced imaging (backscatter/millimeter wave) with the TSA there? Just curious. Thanks!

If you're talking about those new scanners where you can't even have a slip of paper in your pockets, then no, they haven't been installed yet. And I flew out of SNA 2 weeks ago. They DO have them in LAX though. I experienced that 3 weeks ago.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm asking about. Thanks for the info!

So far I've been able to avoid the LAX ones but got to experience my first x-ray scanner at JFK back in July ... Guess someone's got some of my eye candy to enjoy

It's my understanding that the newest "avatar" scanner versions will be installed with the completion of the new terminal in a couple months. These scanners are the type that just show a cartoon outline of the scanned individual and not details of their junk. But for now, no scanners at all.

If you think those idiots that work at TSA are doing anything to keep us safe, you're stupider than they are.

I don't know if any of them can even spell TSA.

I think you might have taken the meaning of my question in the exact opposite way I intended.

I had a horrible experience at SAN recently while opting out of the backscatter, which is why I was asking is SNA was still sans machines.

OP here... just an FYI, SNA has now installed millimeter wave scanners at Terminal C. I'm assuming the other terminals will be getting them as well. At this point in time, it's easy to avoid because you can just go through security at Terminal A or B and walk airside to wherever you need to go.

I will say, however, that the TSA were REALLY pretty nice when I flew out last week.

I honestly think it just depends on type of TSA/person is there. I had to go through it and I forgot some paper money I had in my pocket and they asked what was in my pocket, I pulled it out, and they let me go, no biggie.
