He was accused, not convicted. It's incumbent on the OCSO and those sociopathic jail deputies to protect the high risk inmates from harm at the hands of the regular scum in that jail who decided to become his judge, jury and executioner. Apparently they didn't learn a lesson from the death of John Chamberlin.

Normally I'd be hitting the ceiling over an illegal alien getting a payout, but not this time.

Its a known fact that inmates beat and even kill child molesters. Are all of them compensated?

In the UK the legal system is so nuts, they have even given compensation - yes, compensation - to a terrorist and hate preacher for his time and travels to court... Nor will they evict him to his own country in case he is tortured there. Why not? His entire preaching is to praise the "just" medieval sick laws of his land, so let him go back and face whatever consequences there is so he can be happy!

The world has gone insane.

I second that. I could never understand why other scum in jail decides to have the higher moral ground to beat other inmate for a crime other commited or allegedly commited. If you`re in jail means that you have no right to judge others from the "same" jail yet beating other inmates for crimes commited outside seems to be a common practice.
