I grew up on Ortega Highway Starting in 1955. Man OC was so lovely then. Cleveland National Forest was the place to be man. we had it all. bears, lions, deer, sheep, goats, snakes, you name it it was out there wild animals. had to be careful were you went and what you were doing or you run into a animal that might attack you

but i rather see the good side of anything...no gangs please, no trash or streets of Garden Grove. Man I was here and I SEEN the 500,000 Vietnamese brought into orange county from Vietnam when it fell to the communists. seen them poop in the streets and seen them try to drive and seen them in college aroound then at OCC. the population went up 4X. I didnt mind mostly, I made a girlfriend from one girl who came over on the boat. her parents had money and gold so they "Bought" her a ticket to america. she got here and was picked up by a foster family and started college at OCC. she was beautiful and we was GF/BF for 2 Years until we both graduated and she went her way and I went mine. Sad but thats life.
Cool story, bro.

Not to side track what should be a photo thread even more. But even the bad parts of O.C. are not that bad. Every heavily populated area has some kind of issues, and ours are dismal compared to what goes on in let's say Lancaster/San Bernardino or even the fringes of global cities like Paris or London. Yeah, Garden Grove and Anaheim don't have the aesthetic appeal of the OC Coastline, but they sure have tons of amazing food spots, and a lot more going for them at night. Especially in Garden Grove/Westminster with all their awesome Boba/Tea/Coffee places that are opened late night. Not to mention the cool hookah lounges down Brookhurst in the Little Arabia area. Whether you like that or not, it gives O.C. a more cosmopolitan worldly feel in what would otherwise be a boring bedroom suburb.

It is funny how the only pictures shown are of the beach and costal/exclusive communities. If you go 1 mile inland from the beach you get nothing but gangs, trash etc. Just a little note all the pictures you see are of 800k+ homes and people with 100k+ family incomes.

irvine is the safest city in the US, Costa Mesa is great place, not trashy or full of gangs. anaheim hills, la habra, villa park, and yorba linda all have tons of million dollar mansions. san juan capistrano, mission viejo is very nice suburban region of high incomes. coto de casa, and rancho santa margarita are one of the richest places in OC. even Santa Ana has very nice neighborhoods.

The beach and those homes are naturally photogenic. I'm sure there are photographers documenting the inland and older cities. No one is trying to hide anything or obscure reality. All you have to do is read the forums to see that average person in O.C. doesn't see the county through rose tinted glasses.

Well there isn't anything to take photos of in OC besides the beach or Disneyland. It's suburbia. You see large houses, strip malls, and parking lots. That's nearly all of what OC is and nobody wants to see that in photos. Nice place to raise a family... not exciting though.

OC isn't Paris or NYC after all. There's no "city" in the classic urban sense there.
