My wife and I and out 2 kids will hopefully be moving to Orange County when we finish college. I know it will be a big change, especially in the cost of living area considering it is fairly cheap where we live right now. Where are some of the cheaper places in Orange County. I've been told that Garden Grove is one of the least expensive towns but I'm not really sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Don't have jobs yet. Just getting ideas where to live first. I'd rather commute and be in a safe compared to the opposite if that males since.

Well its nickname is "Garbage Grove" if that gives you a hint. Any "cheap" part of OC is going to a dump. That includes Santa Ana, Anaheim (not including the hills), Stanton, Garden Grove, and parts of many other cities. In OC, if its cheap, there's a very good reason.

Let's be fair, there are plenty of good and decent areas of Garden Grove, but the bad areas will drag property values down all around, just like they do in Santa Ana. I would avoid Stanton and Midway City like the plague, but Garden Grove definitely has its nice areas that can be had for a good value.

I understand jobs should come first I was just looking for decent cities/towns first. I will be looking in the LA area as well but OC was the first choice. Thank you for the help guys, I am taking it very serious. Since you guys are helpful I have another question. I know the LA/OC area is very very big but where are some places that have been hiring a lot recently. I'm getting a degree in business management/marketing/accounting and my wife in health care administration and health care management. Any ideas?

If your looking for rent to be around $2000-$2500 for a 3 bed house try mission viejo, laguna hills, lake forest. weve been here two years and we are leaving for texas and a more affordable cost of living, we came here from nevada and our cost of living more than doubled. its beautiful here, but were so busy working and budgeting we dont have time to enjoy it. bye bye oc.... best of luck to you.
