I live in Santa Ana and it's no surprise that on 4th of July (and other random nights like tonight) people set off tons of fireworks here. But, that doesn't necessarily mean it's legal...does anyone know if it still is? I know there are only a handful of OC cities where fireworks are still legal, and up until a couple of years ago Santa Ana was one of them. But I can't seem to find any current info on this anywhere. Checked fire department, Googled...anyone know?

I know they're legal in Costa Mesa but only around the 4th of July and maybe New Year's. I thought they were legal in Santa Ana too. Are you saying that changed recently? I think there's 1-2 other cities like Stanton and maybe Garden Grove where they're legal.

I don't know if it's changed, that's why I'm asking . Just seems like a lot of cities have banned them in the last few years, but I can't find any info after 2010 (however, the info from 2010 says legal in SA). People here set them off regardless, but I am not one to risk getting fined (or whatever they do).

Just wait a few days for the fireworks stands to start popping up. If you see one, its legal in that city. I'm not aware of any more cities banning them recently. As far as I know, pretty much everyone besides the 3-4 cities mentioned banned them years ago. Some city, Westminster I think, recently discussed lifting the ban for the 4th to allow the local schools to raise some cash selling them.

Haven't been to my folks place in Buena Park for 4th of July in a couple years, but if laws haven't changed it's still legal there.

There are only five cities in Orange County that allow fireworks in any form.

Stanton, Santa Ana, Buena Park, Costa Mesa and Garden Grove.
