Hi,

I've accepted a job offer in Cypress and looking to rent a place less than 30 mins commute time.

Looking for something newer preferably closer to beach.

Any recommendations/stay aways greatly appreciated

Cypress is a nice area and not too far from the beach. Anything new and really close to the beach is going to a multi million dollar scrape-off. Seal Beach is the closest beach to Cypress.

You could investigate Belmont Shore.

Looking to rent

You might consider Seal Beach, Huntigton Beach you will pay more rent for those areas. Cypress isn't that far from the Beach. Cypress has some reasonable townhomes, Nice community college. Los Alamitos . Los Alamiots is reasonable all so. All the communites with beach after it you will pay more for housing. Maybe start with Cypress and Los Alamitos.

You will want to be closer to work. Traffic getting to work is a nightmare here. Since you will spend so much of your time at work make it easier on youself commuting. Los Alamitos might be the best of both worlds easy shot to the beach.

Seal Beach and Huntington Beach would also work for your commute Huntington Beach is in Orange County which is a great place to live.

Talk with the realtor about the communte they can give you a realistic
idea of the communte a 30 minute commute could be 15 miles. We measure
in minutes to work rather than miles. I live 10 miles to the beach and it takes me a good 20-25 minutes in traffic. Consider how close you are to the freeway. It can take longer to get to the freeway if you live closer to the beach.

Don't let someone tell you won't need A/C even at the Beach it's still warm
enough for A/C during the day.

Hope that helps.

Cypress South of Katella is nice. Has a beach community feel similar to Rossmoor and Seal Beach which are close by. Cypress is in a good location and if you can avoid having to take the freeway to commute you will have a better quality of life in my own humble opinion = )

My family and I are considering moving to Cypress. I have a daughter who is in elementary school. What about schools in and around the Cypress area? Do I have a good choice to pick from? What about public and private elementary schools in the area? What about public and private high schools in the area?

Thank you for any input on this subject.

California School Performance Maps

The public schools in the Cypress area look to vary a bit from great to so-so. Keep in mind that school scores are pretty well aligned with neighborhood demographics. So if you have a nice, safe, middle to upper middle class area, the schools will score well. If you have a neighborhood of illegals living 3 families to an apartment, the schools will usually score poorly. Sometimes you'll see a poorly scoring school surrounded by better scoring schools. That can indicate that there's a low rent apartment complex in its attendance area dragging down the average. As they say, all real estate is local. But in general, that map is a good place to start narrowing down your choices.

As far as jr. high/high schools Oxford Academy is probably the top public school in OC, nearby in Cerritos, Whitney is tops in LA for public schools, those two are easily top 5 in the state based solely on API (Whitney highest in LA, Oxford highest in OC) and SAT scores (Whitney highest in the state, Oxford 6th in the state, 2nd in OC). You can look up more info here.
