No, of course not. Anaheim not only has a larger population than Irvine, it was incorporated almost 100 years earlier.

I still think of Irvine as a newcomer. There wasn't much to it, when I was growing up.

Anaheim is a city in Orange County, not Los Angeles.

The Metropolitan Division for OC is known as

Anaheim-Santa Ana-Irvine

https://www2.census.gov/programs-sur...ronotes-ca.pdf

Using these definitions it is impossible for Irvine to be classified as the principal Metropolitan city in Orange County.

Los Angeles, Long Beach and Anaheim are their own principal cities according to the census.

Anaheim is in its own division which is classified as Orange County and is the principal city in that division.

Using these metrics Anaheim is not classified as a suburb of Los Angeles.

LA and Long Beach are grouped together because they are in the same county.

LA's too fast for me, but OC prolly too slow for most LA folks, so it goes both ways.

I'd hardly say OC is a suburb of LA--and least of all Anaheim... Irvine and Costa Mesa have the bulk of OC's tall buildings and big business, and less of the slums of Anaslime (not including the Hills).

Our lifestyles are different, not too mention our school systems (LA's schools on the whole are substandard), economics (much lower taxes, and I should think less poverty in OC, too, but I've not done any research to back up that opinion), and local governments. OC isn't big bity at all--we just have a few concentrations of big comerce, and the rest is all pretty much suburban sprawl.

(And they were the Anaheim Angels... that stupid LA Angels of Anaheim name is ridiculous. >_<)
This is truly a ridiculous post. Having grown up in OC and left, when I return I am reminded what an extension of LA OC is. Take Imperial Hwy from the airport and it is just a string of suburbs that eventually land in Fullerton and YL. Just continuous suburban sprawl that crosses from LA County into Orange County.

There is no reason suburbs do not cross county lines. NYC has Westchester County, Fairfield County, Connecticut and Northern NJ. Chicago has DuPage County, Lake County and Will County, which contain dozens of suburbs that are not in Cook County. Chicago suburbs are far less urban than OC suburbs are, and your statement that your lifestyle is different from Thousand Oaks and Encino to Tustin and Orange is absurd.

Yes, Anaheim is a suburb of LA, just in a different county.

You're ignoring census data, maps, city information, and government links.....and posting your own opinion. (Now talk about "ridiculous"...)

Anaheim might not have been BUT...Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach were considering 100 years ago people commuted using the Pacific Electric Red cars from those towns to downtown FASTER THEN than we do in cars TODAY. Back then you got on a red car in Santa Ana, the tracks went straight to Watts then turned north to downtown. You couldn't beat get to downtown today faster at rush hour from Santa Ana by car. Click to expand the graphic, it's a really nice map.

OC, and every city in it, is a cut above anything LA has to offer. Don't try to compare the two. LA is a typical dirty old city, Anaheim and OC is all about living the good life....
Your view is so antiquated and passe'. Of course Anaheim is a suburb of LA. Even more so now than in the past. Foreign investors all falling over each other to invest billions upon billions of dollars in LA, not so much in Orange County. Where does Orange County get their news? The LA Times and LA based Studios in LA....ABC, CBS, NBC, KTLA, Fox, etc.

This postulate does not hold up.

What you are referring to is a media market- this has nothing to do with which cities are classified as "suburbs" of each other.

San Jose and San Francisco receive the same broadcasts, but neither of these cities are suburbs of each other. (Hint San Jose has a larger population than San Francisco)

Orange County is one of the hottest markets for foreign investment. See Irvine

The LA Times has an Orange County bureau heck the LA Times, themselves are not even based in the city of Los Angeles anymore but now El Segundo.

The OC Register is a popular news source in Orange County.

Could go on but basic research would reveal all the answers to your questions.

Huh?

There are several counties in southern California: Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Orange County, etc.

Anaheim lies in Orange County. To say it doesn't is like saying that San Luis Obispo lies in San Diego County. Check a map.

Foreign investment has nothing to do with the county in which a city lies, nor does from which studio it gets its news.
