hey. i am thinking about moving to orange county in a few months, maybe brea.
I just took a trip to West LA and i could live there but i am also interested in orange county.
Brea seems like a nice city that also has a good scene for what i want to do.
I won't have a car, so is the bus system good in the brea area?
i mean, would i be able to easily take a bus to the beach towns and long beach?
is it urban enough to walk from place to place?
just looking for some helpful information.
thank you.

The are bus stops throughout Orange County cities, so that shouldn't be an issue. Brea is a quiet, nice little place. You can walk from nearby housing off Brea Blvd or Birch St. to shops, dining, etc. It is as urban as most towns in this area. You should definately vivist though and see if it meets your expectations.
Best of luck!

Off the top of my head Brea is in Orange County and Long Beach is in LA County. The bus systems are usually county specific. They probably have a transfer agreement between the two agencies, but a direct line from Brea to Long Beach probably does not exist.

Plus Brea and Long Beach are a distance from each other.

It would be at least two buses to get from one to the other --Route 57 or 29 to 50 or 60 would at least get you into the city, if not actually downtown. I know 50 and 60 go at least as far as Cal State Long Beach. This is on the OCTA system. Long Beach has its own system, with which I am not familiar.

The bus system in Orange County is not that great, but it will get you most places in certain cities of Orange County, but you may have to transfer at least once. Are you going to be a student or working and where? That will really be the main determiner of whether Brea would be a good location for you.

If you lived near the downtown or mall, you could live car free. You would have an easy walking distance to shopping, parks, community center, post office, and library. It is more single family housing and condos around the main shopping areas, but there are some apartment complexes in the city.

It sounds more like Seal Beach would fit your style. Quiet, very close to Long Beach, More bus routes.

Probably quite a bit pricer, however.

It is all in where you look and what compromises you can make.

Honestly, I would not live in Brea without a car.

I mean, it would be physically possible, but really nowhere in OC is it convenient to live without a car.

If I were broke, I guess I would do it, but it wouldn't be fun. Brea is 100% built for the automobile.
