Does anybody know of a good website where I can check for house/condo rentals (versus the large managed apartment listings)?

I have found a few such as rentwave.com and forrent.com, but they charge a fee to view the listings. Is it worth it to pay the fee, or could I find the same listings somehwere else? They do have some interesting listings that seem to be more reasonably priced than some of the large apartment communities for the same size property, but I am not sure if they are just teasers to get me to subscribe to their site. Otherwise I am being saturated with the apartment communities in my search.

We are moving to the OC in December, and are looking in the south OC area.

Thanks

Realtor.com also shows rentals but they aren't always updated. I can set you up on a search based on your criteria and help you determine which areas are best. Should you like assitance don't hesitate to contact.

What are you looking for?

I like this one at move.com:

Advanced Search (http://www.move.com/advancedsearch.aspx?loc=Enter+a+City%2c+State+or+Z IP&styp=rent&mnpr=&mxpr=&mnbed=&mnbath=&dist=0&ter ms= - broken link)

Be sure to adjust your search criteria for individual properties rather than rental properties.

Good Luck with your search

Oops, looks like I just directed you to the same site as was already suggested.
I found it to be very accurate when we were looking and I was also getting MLS updates through our realtor.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Kturbe, you are a real estate agent?

I checked on realtor.com and there looks to be some rentals within our budget for houses/detached condos in Mission Viejo area. Also a lot in Laguna Woods, but mostly retirement communities.

My office will be in Irvine, but I would be traveling a often too, so just as important to be relatively close to SNA. My wife is still job searching so not sure where her commute would take her yet. We would like to find at least 2br/2ba with over 1000 sq ft just to have some room, and under $2000/mo. I think we could get a bit more for our money outside of Irvine, so we've been looking at southern OC communities.

We would not be in the market for a home purchase when we arrive, but we are hoping to avoid the apartment lifestyle anyway by trying to find something a little more "homey".

Anyway, thanks for any suggestions you could offer.
