Can anyone tell me about Anaheim Hills? We are relocating to Southern CA and I just noticed this pocket of great schools on the map. I love the feel of Irvine but with 5 kids, not sure I can afford Irvine. Are there lots of kids in this area? Parks? Family Amenities? Family shopping? (Target, Trader Joe's, Costco, etc.)

Thanks for any info you can give me!

Anaheim Hills is very nice. There is a Target at the festival, the Costco and TJs are actually in Yorba Linda I believe but AH and YL kinda blend into one another. Only two downsides to the area. Gets hotter than the rest of OC because the hills block any ocean breezes and the 91 is one of the worst freeways for traffic in OC.

Good to know--thanks! So it's hotter than Irvine, right? Do the hills make it smoggier also?

Anaheim Hills is a very nice area. There are a lot of parks, including bigger parks like Yorba Regional, Deer Canyon and Ronald Reagan. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. There's a Trader Joe's in Orange and another in Yorba Linda. Costco, Home Depot, Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc in Savi Ranch. Target, movie theaters and Mother's Market (kind of between a trader joe's and whole foods in size, and similar offerings).

I would consider it a good area for families, as I ended up putting in an offer on a house there earlier this year for my own.

I havent noticed it being smoggier but yes, warmer. Not much, about 5-6 degrees on average. For example, its 72 in Irvine right now, 80 in AH. Next 10 days are low to mid 80s in Irvine and high 80s to low 90s in AH.

Thanks! Would you say it's as hot as the Santa Clarita area? I was there recently and it was pretty hot!

How about family amenities, activities for kids etc? How does it compare to Irvine?

No, not quite as hot as Santa Clarita/Valencia, at least I don't think so.

Anaheim Hills is like Signal Hills near Long Beach. Just glorified to be 5x better than the surrounding crappier cities.

AH and YL are both nice areas. Come out for few days and see for yourself.

Yes on both, and yes it's a nice area. Probably the only part of Anaheim I would want to live in.
