Philly loves to hate itself, but the posts I have seen here about OC are nearly as rough. Why is OC so loved and hated?

It's geographically beautiful, but a lot else sucks. You get the traffic of living in a big city, minus the advantages of living in a big city. And I'd say for people from the Northeast, the vibe is so foreign. People back east tend to be to the point, real and sometimes harsh. In Orange County, people tend to be fake and will "slop sugar" to your face, then stab you in the back. That's a huge generalization though.

Though the OC wouldn't be considered urban there are several new developments being developed throughout the area. Especially in Irvine. Many of the new developments are designed with that great room/loft feel taking the space away from dining rooms etc because they are located next to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. West Irvine is a great example of this, close enough to walk over to Tustin Marketplace. But not too many people actually walk.
There are also several high-rise developments built and in the process of being built that offer restaurants and shopping on the lower levels. These are being built in Anahiem and on the Irvine/Newport border.
If you want any specifics, I would be glad to help.
Best of luck!
