I'm being considered for a VP Marketing job in Whittier, CA (90602). We currently live in Tustin Ranch near the 5. My wife works in Westminster and we have a 6 year old in kindergarten. I'm 53 and she's 46.

I don't like long commutes.

Any suggestions on any nice areas we could live if I get the job and we decide to move closer to Whittier? Looking for a nice, middle class neighborhood.

Thank you,

Barry

Do you need a 1/2 way point to have the same commute? Where do you work now? If you're looking at a additional 10-20 minutes of commute time added to your commute, cowboy up and do it. Your wife won't be hectic driving, your kid won't be moved to another school and if you like your house you won't need to sell. Tustin ranch is a nice area. I do a lot of work in Tustin.

If you could live in Whittier itself, except it would be a sucky commute for your wife.......

East portion of city of Whittier would be great for you and family, but being more fair to your wife's commute, I would also say Fullerton as a good compromise.

La Palma is halfway between Whittier and Westminster. I lived there for over a year and liked it overall (although there's not much to do or many options for food other than chains.)

The cities surrounding La Palma are all pretty good (except Buena Park.. but the areas bordering La Palma are still pretty nice.) Pick Cerritos if you want a faster commute due to the proximity to 605.. it has the best schools in the area but is also most expensive. Cypress also has great schools but may be a bit too far from Whittier.

I don't recommend Fullerton.. it's a long commute to both cities except from the westernmost area.. which is the least desirable neighborhood.
