Am I just crazy to think I will find a house less than $650K with 4 bedrooms and schools that fall at 8 or better on Great Schools within 45 min (peek traffic) from Aliso Viejo?

If your only criteria is 4-bedrooms and schools that fall at 8 or better on Great Schools there are a lot of homes available for under $650K within 45 minutes of Aliso Viejo in peak traffic

Have you considered the IE? BTW, we have found school ratings have been not as reliable as the are perceived.

Do you have any other way to check on the decency of schools? Academic programs, safety, test scores etc?

Well, we've moved a couple times and each time the school ratings reflected are pretty far off.. for example, what they don't mention is the degree of racism, bullying, rich kid condescension, in those numbers. Just because a school is rated high doesn't mean they are happy to welcome someone from the outside into their ranks. Take those numbers for what they are. IMO.

Sorry I hope that didn't sound sarcastic. I am also concerned about the things you are mentioning and was just wondering if there were any other tools for someone who didn't know the area. Thank you
