Will we get hung up in traffic problems if we leave Laguna Beach on a Friday about 8 am, going to Palm Springs?

The best routing to me looks like: 133 to 241 to 91 to 60 to 10.

Are there any shortcuts we should consider?

thanks for your help

Ive gone the scenic route, Hwy 74. Tues morning 9am - 1pm. Takes time but then again i made a lot of stops to admire the views along the way. but i think its a little more direct.

I think this is the best commute time-wise from Laguna Beach to Palm Springs. Toll roads and the reverse commute will minimize the rush hour traffic but I still might consider leaving at 10am to minimize it more. You will find good views on this route too once you get past riverside. A stop at the outlets in Cabazon is also recommended if you want to do some discount shopping.

I agree that leaving a bit later..maybe 9am from Laguna Beach would be the best bet..

good luck...I would not attempt 74 (whatever the view...it is a mountain road and can be hazardous to your health)

Would we bypass the outlets in Cabazon if we take 74? Sure would hate to miss that shopping opportunity!

Yes you would. Unless you take 74 halfway (through Cleveland Natl Forest) then head up north on 79 from Hemet to intersect with I10 (outlets are off 10). But to me if you want the go to the outlets then I wouldnt take 74 at all. Besides, the best part of the 74 way IMO are the views from Pines to Palms.
