I know there's no hunting in OC, but where do you go?

I grew up in Riverside, and I think my brother and father used to go quail hunting in... the San Bernardino mountains? I think. No idea where exactly, I never went. They also went deer hunting in the San Berdoo mountains (never got one). I know my father used to go duck hunting a few times, before I was born, don't know where.

I'm sure you could ask some of the guys in local gun stores about where locals typically go, though.

Arizona and Nebraska, I've hunted various places in California in the past but have since quit. My idea of hunting does not involve 90+ degree weather. For example went deer hunting in the Trinity Alps north of Redding one year 90+, couple years ago went quail hunting down by the Salton Sea, got a few but 95+. No thanks.

Kern County, if you want to stay somewhat local. I go out to the Colorado River, anywhere from Parker, Az to Yuma. Growing up in the rural days of the Santa Ana Canyon, I used to be able to sit on my front porch and hunt.

Its like shooting a farmers chickens. Yes I did it once, only once. Go to the midwest and hunt real wild pheasants and you will see what I mean.
No offense meant, if you have never hunted a actual wild pheasant you probably would not know. The one time I went one of our party had to actually kick a rooster in the rear to get it to fly. Not my idea of hunting.

We have wild turkey up here in Tuolumne county.
Not very sporting to shoot them when they mob you getting out of the truck. Quail are plentiful.
My buddy shoots chukar in Kern county.
We used to drive down to Imperial County and go dove shooting.
