I'm thinking of switching from Cox Comm to Direct TV due to the ever rising costs at Cox. Our bill just got raised to over $175 for internet and cable TV.

Costco has a special going on that looks like it will save us over $50 month, give us more channels, and we get a $200 Costco gift card to boot.

Anybody make the switch?

I'm thinking of switching from AT&T to DirecTv. I just got my rate jacked up from $88 to 145. I called and complained and they dropped to $110 per month. You got any info on that Costco special? I didn't see anything on their site. Is it a in store only deal?

It was kiosk they had set up inside. It's a much better deal than you get online. I got a big discount on the monthly service for the first year, four premiums channels (hbo, etc..) free for three months, and a $200 Costco card.

It's already cheaper than Cox.

I have Direct TV and dumped Cox. I am happy with that decision. But I do hope we get FIOS here like I had in DC. Fios is simply better, but Direct TV works much better here with our near perfect weather (absence of storms).

Yeah since moving here Cox sucks compared to Comcast. Their signal is spotty. I am able to get TWC so I may go that option. No Direct TV I don't like contracts.

Going from xfinity.comcast.net to Cox is like coming down from Evian to swamp bottom muck
I remember as a young jack ass who didn't know any better choosing Cox over other subsribers.
Cox reputation if you didn't obviously already know is aweful in Orange County.

i took the same costco deal last year, but i dumped time warner. the only issue is that the killer deal was only for the first year of a two year contract. having said that, even with the increased price it will still be cheaper in year two. i did the math and with the gift card, i'll be saving over $1000 over the two year period. the only issue i foresee is on internet. the rep gave me a direct number for someone at time warner to continue my internet service at a discounted rate. this rate is only good for a year though, so i'll have to do some negotiating to keep that price down when the year is up.

I walked into the Cox store a couple months ago and dumped all their equipment on their desk and told them I was fed up with having lots of channels and still can't find anything I want to watch, and if there was something I wanted to watch there was a commercial every 5 minutes and some of those info-mercials last 3 minutes. All this frustration was costing me $180 a month for their internet and TV service.

I bought a $99 (one off payment) Roku box, kept the internet service and upgraded it for an extra $5 a month (due to needing more download for streaming), signed up for Netflix ($8), HuluPlus ($8) and already have Amazon Prime. So for the cost of $76 a month I now have high speed internet and commercial free tv/movie streaming that I actually want to watch at any time that suits me - bliss. Saved myself $104 a month - perfect!
