Even that's not entirely correct.

A gf or S/O would push your household income up. And there's 3 bd apartments and townhomes in HB near the beach that have roommate situations at $600/mo. Single person making over $25K a year(around $13 an hour) could afford that.

There's a plethora of ads on craigslist seeking roommates in the $600-800/mo range in the area bounded by Goldenwest/beach/Garfield/PCH.

Man.....in Tennessee or Texas or even Wyoming you could get your own apartment (by yourself) for like $350 a month!

Most of the companies we came across required you to make twice the rent, not three times. They would never be able to fill the places at current rents if you had to make three times the rent.
