When I talk to people here and tell them I went to high school in West Covina, most people have no idea where that is. The city has over 100k in population. When I said I use to own a home in Fontana, they ask if that's near Palm Springs...solid 80 mile difference. These two cities are only 50 miles away. Sure, there's no reason to go to these cities if you live in OC but you've never seen a map? You've never seen the weather map on the morning news? Googlemap some directions...ever?

When I talk to people about how I can travel so much, they ask me how I was able to afford it. I go out with them to a restaurant and they order 2-4 beers plus food, $50 easy. Then they take an Uber or Lyft to a bar afterwards both ways, another $40 bucks. Plus the money spent at the bar, at least another $50.

I've been going out with my roommate and his friends, all over 35 and they all throw cash out the window. They all drive pretty decent vehicles and they ask me what its like living in the Inland Empire...like its a different state. Its a 45 minute drive...

I don't get this issue with N. OC. I've spent alot of time in Brea and Fullerton but the further south I go, the bigger the bubble feels.
I grew up in the "OC of Michigan" (Oakland County) which has a average income comparable to areas like Fullerton or Brea but much cheaper cost of living. I went to high school in one of the wealthiest cities in the US and yet I don't think I've ever experienced anything close to the "bubble" you've described above. Maybe because I attended a public school..

Not sure why everyone is focusing on the Inland Empire. I've lived in other places but hey, its easier to insult a different location instead of defending yours.

That averages to about 5 days in each area - did you enjoy the vacation?

I already stated that was a typo. I personally read entire threads before making a smarky post. But hey, thats just me.

Right, because we all know that FL doesn't have any racial problems at all......

Wonder why you chose Fontana and you had to use Fontucky instead of Fontana.
If you've lived in CA as long as you claim you'd know that Fontucky is how a lot of Fontanans refer to their city and do so with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks.

People do vacation, but they vacation far from their homes usually. Statistically speaking most people don't stray far from their homes in cities in CA because they don't have to. They have all the shopping, entertainment and recreation they need in close proximity to their homes.

No, they don't. Most people in Fontana hate that term especially those in N. Fontana where they try to be like Rancho Cucamonga. I lived in Fontana for 4 years. There's a small chuck of the city that is referred to as Fontucky. Fontana is a very large city size wise. Well above the 210/15 junction and nearly down to the 15/60 junction. The 15/60 area, the further south part is "Fontucky". However, the majority of its citizens live north of the 10 freeway.

FL definitely has racial problems. I lived in the city next to Sanford, FL where the Treyvon Martin deal happen. Even as a little kid, I could feel the tension.

However, there wasn't any superiority tension I feel in S. OC. I kinda thought people would be more open minded down here but thats what I get for having high expectations.

No one is forcing you to go there, don't go then. I don't go into areas I don't like. Simple.

You just have to be right, don't you? Well, you aren't, but no matter how many people who have much more experience than you tell you that you're wrong, you won't ever admit it.

Once again, almost all of the superiority complex is due to money, not race. They don't care if you're a rich Asian, rich black, rich Hispanic, or a rich white. There's a reason I would prefer to settle in North County over South County, but it has nothing to do with South County folks being in a bubble.

Regarding the so-called superiority tension in S.OC, OP clearly has not spent much time in NYC, Boston, DC or San Francisco, nevermind some capitals of Europe or Monaco.
