You may want to talk with people who actually work at Disneyland and have for many years. They have a union and things are a changing. You get hired as a CR (Causal Regular)and will not be working full time, in fact it seems they are working towards not having full time positions, unless you are in a corporate slot. As a CR you will not get a dedicated number of hours per week either, so look closely at their hiring and hiring practices before you get here and realize there are issues. They will no longer be working around the schedules for those going to school or with second jobs. This is just for your information and is in no way meant to discourage you from moving here, I just suggest you have multiple plans and check things out prior to moving.

I wish you the best on your endeavors and search for what you want out of life!!

I don't work for DL but having just moved from the east coast to OC, I hope my experience will help you. Moving across the country is very expensive, even if you're single. You have to consider not only the apt rent/deposit, but all other fees, e.g., utility deposits, car registrations, start up in a new home, travel expenses while moving. I was really shocked at how expensive some things are, electricity being the first. If you don't have a car here, it's really hard to fully experience the beauty of the area. Even if you have all of the money saved up for Extended Stay for six months, you might want to include other costs for temporary housing. We stayed at ES for two weeks - laundry was not included at $6 per load for three people, that can add up. I wish I would've had $30k to move here rather than $20k; so I would estimate that you'll need ~$10k for one person to get really settled in and living on a new paycheck.

I can't imagine working for DL unless I'm in management bc you have to consider what types of people you'll be working with/for and the clientelle - e.g., teenagers and families with little ones. If you have that kind of temperament, ok, but at 40-something I wouldn't.

All that being said, good luck and I hope it'll work out for you. Just have as much money as possible before coming here!
