I will be moving to the area in the middle of August. Will be working at South Coast Plaza Mall in Costa Mesa and at The Grove in Anaheim. Wondering about some better areas to live. Married with two kids and have been researching the Orange area, as well as Costa Mesa. Don't really want to be in Irvine, just want to be in an area that is safe overall for my family. Even if it is something smaller, but is safe, that is great. Looking to live in an apartment. We have looked at 27seventyfive in Costa Mesa as well as researched about Renaissance at Uptown Orange. Any thoughts? Thanks for help!

Avoid it like the plague. I lived there for 2 years and its awful. Noisy, trashy neighbors. Car and apartment break ins and vandalism. Fire alarms going off at 2am for an hour while you stand in the parking lot outside. No parking for guests because residents park their 2nd cars in the spots. Oh and some guy murdered his family in there a few years back. So yea....Irvine is one of the safest cities in the country. Why do you not want to live there?

I would prefer to either be pretty close to the mall or to the Grove. Probably the mall though since I will be working there more days, most likely.

If I stay in state, it will be Newport or CDM. I like Irvine a lot but I want to be closer to the beach.

OP-Why not look in Costa Mesa around the mall then?

I would highly recommend Irvine since it's very safe with great schools, but if that is not on your radar, Tustin is a family friendly and safe place as well and in between Costa Mesa and Orange.

Is anyone familiar with The Courts at Artist Village in downtown Santa Ana? They seem to be a good area that seems relatively safe.
