Good work by the Feds. It seems like they raided several cities at once to maximize what they can before the remainders go into hiding.

I don't know how desperate these people are for finding a better quality of life but at minimum but I don't appreciate them taking matters into their own hands in skirting immigration limits. My assumption is that the federal limits have good planning reasons for being set where they are.

If nothing else, at least there is a small bright side to these black market businesses in that it probably pumped some money into the local economy.

A bit more about these crooks who paid $40,000-$80,000 to have a baby born in the US:

Feds Raid California 'Maternity Hotels' for Birth Tourists
"They were funneled to several Orange County hospitals to deliver, but they didn't pay full price — approximately $25,000 — for medical services, officials said. Instead, they got reduced rates for the indigent, ranging from nothing to $4,000, the court papers say.

That translated into big losses for the hospitals. More than 400 babies linked to the scheme were born at just one facility in a two-year period, investigators said.

The investigators discovered that the parents of one baby born in April 2014 who paid the hospital just $4,000 were spending money at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel, Rolex and Louis Vuitton, using an account with almost a quarter of a million dollars in it."

Interesting isn't it. Makes you wonder. Were the smartest dumb country that was ever formed.

We really need to get rid of the anchor baby law.

Yeah, you can mention Mexicans, but do not forget to add the Columbians, the Chinese, and many other nations out there. A huge number of them do this for anchor babies. When we have the 14th amendment in place, we can expect this.

The reality is many people want to come here. We have almost no control over our borders and our immigration system is abused routinely.

Note that when undocumented aliens have kids here, unlike these particular cases that include people on temporary visas, the majority seem to expect to remain here now just by virtue of having given birth here.

The problem is U.S. immigration law that was changed to make family ties more important than skills the U.S. needs and wants. Drop the incentives to have anchor babies and people will stop having anchor babies.
Exactly! It's not Chinese "anchor babies" that's ruining this country... and my guess is that while I'm sure Fox Spews used this story as it's "false outrage du jour" story, it's more of a distraction than anything else. Good that the Feds are cracking down on it, but we have bigger issues to get our panties in a wad over.

And really, why should a baby being born here automatically be a U.S. citizen? That makes zero sense. How about we change that law

It is quite difficult to amend the constitution. It's not an easy change of law fix. Of course, the other option is real enforcement of our immigration laws, but that'd be too controversial, too painful etc. for many politicians.
