It's called the 405 because it takes four or five hours to get anywhere on it.

LOL Charles!

The Pasadena Freeway is one of my least favorites - the lanes are very narrow - go out to the San Fernando Valley on 101....let's face it, every freeway is horrible in So. California, especially during rush hour traffic....too many people, too many cars, inefficient freeway system.

The 101 through the SFV will give anyone a headache. You never know when it will be bad. And there is no way around it.

I think the 405 is the poster child for bumper to bumper traffic because its so long. It passes through a good chunk of LA and OC so most everyone is familiar with it. And its crappy for the entire length, not just part of it.

I think the reason the 405 is thought to be the most congested is because it always is congested. Looking at it, it should be the least. It has a cozillion lanes in comparison to some of the other freeways around L.A. Years ago when I plugged up and down that Sepulveda Pass I would constantly be screaming, why is this traffic so bad, it's 4.00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. It never mattered the time of day....it was always just so ridiculously congested from Orange County all the way to the 101. And, folks its been that way for years. Its inexplicably crowded at certain times.
