Based on your posts OP, I wouldn't leave Oakland. It sounds lovely there. I actually looked up the neighborhoods you mentioned...it sounds like you belong there to me.

What we love about our neighborhood is that...it's extremely walkable, has tons of parks, restaurants, shopping, temperate weather (we're outside all the time!), great public schools, community support of neighbors, local business and farmers markets, public transportation to SF/airports, easy 3 hour drive to Tahoe/mountains for skiing/lake fun, hiking trails in our backyard, the list goes on and on....

My question for this forum is...based on what we love about OakTown, what OC areas would be a good fit for us? Does it even exist in SoCal? What neighborhoods should we consider? ...or should I just propose commuting?!?! TIA
I'm dying to know more about your specific neighborhood. Would you be willing to message me?

Oakland - nice? I've lived up in the bay area my whole life, East Bay. From Caldecott tunnel down to the Marina not so great. Use to go up to Oakland hills and see a bunch of empty beer bottles and condoms everywhere cause teenagers would go up there to drink at night. Crime all up and down telegraph ave. Homeless problem in Berkeley. Lake Merritt full of crime, and that was one of the nicer areas. I have friends that own beauty supply stores that get robbed ever other month. When I moved down here, I didn't like it cause it was so cookie cutter and actually too clean for me. Was not use to not having to look over my shoulder. Now I can't go back. You get suxed into OC's utopia.
