I was talking with this lady the other day in Aliso Viejo. She was saying she pays $800 a month just to rent a room in an apartment with roommates. Then she said she used to live in Colorado. In CO she said you could get your own apartment with no roommates for that much.

Orange County - $800 gets you a room to rent
Colorado - $800 gets you your own apartment

I remember like 15 years ago you could get a room to rent here for like $400-500.

If you paid $500 15 years ago, $800 now, sounds about right.

Rest assured. If this lady was referring to the Denver area, $800 will not get you your own apartment here anymore either.

Why does this surprise you? OC is the 5th most expensive area in the entire country

That sounds like she got a great deal for Orange County. It's about the same as in Seattle, which most of the time is less expensive than Southern CA.

Ridiculous.

If you wanna live in Lake Forest and you're not a psycho, my parents will probably rent a room to you for $400 /$100 per week..as long as you're employed and not ghetto and have no violent felonies. As they are getting older they need a person to help out with things around the house (changing a light bulb, cleaning the ceiling fan, moving furniture when they're cleaning etc. nothing insane)

They're nice and quiet in their 50s in a nice community.

If you're actually serious kik me defleppardfan88

I'm paying $650 in Irvine with all utilities included. Sounds like somebody was trying to rip her off.

It depends on which city in O.C. In the Irvine and its surrounding area if you rent a room with private bath and utilities included in someone's home, it's around $1000/month. Basically, you can save about 40%. If you rent a room in the Little Sai Gon area in one of those Viet Namese families' homes, they charge about $400 a month but the home is nowhere as nice as those in Irvine
