What is the Main Street of Seal Beach like? I've heard that Seal Beach in general is a relatively "sleepy," slow-paced town. But I've also heard that Main Street is somewhat comparable to the Belmont Shore in Long Beach, though on a much smaller scale. Can anyone provide insight as to how these two compare? I'm a young professional. The last two times I've visited Belmont Shore it seemed like the nightlife was dominated by mostly college kids...maybe I'm visiting the wrong bars. I've never been to Seal Beach before.

Belmont Shore has a more lively nightlife than "Mayberry by the sea" Seal Beach.
There are a lot of Irish pubs in Seal Beach if you like that type of bar but the "Second Street crawl" bar hopping in Belmont Shore is a lot more fun.
But, it's a lot easier if you live there and are able to walk and not drive home afterward.
Personally, I love P.J.'s (Panama Joe's ) in Belmont Shore. Panama Joe's | Mesquite Mex Broiler
Great Mimosa's on Saturday and Sunday morning with breakfast and the place get's really loud during football season afternoons!

The Long Beach places....it's near cal state long beach so there you go. The places in downtown long beach will have more young professionals but they also go to panama joes and a few other places.

Seal beach is pretty low key...not really a nightlife place unless you live there and then it's mostly bars and restaurants.

FYI, Main Street Huntington Beach is where the party animals hang out.
But, there's a big police presence there also so be aware of your behaviour and keep it low key.

Well I don't know if a cautionary tone is needed…just don't do anything illegal. Seal Beach's downtown is more of brunch place in the morning. There are a few bars and a BBQ joint, but if you're looking for more folks in their 20-30s you might want to try DT Long Beach, Belmont, HB, or Balboa peninsula. I've always been an old soul so I generally avoid the party crowds.

What about in terms of living in either of those places? It sure sounds nice to be able to walk home after a night at the bars, but it also sounds like it would suck living in Belmont Shore due to the parking and it always being so busy.

When I lived there, I would park my work car in the garage and use a motorcycle or bicycle to get around as they are easier to find a parking place for. A lot of people now are using scooters like they have in Italy.

Belmont Shore is a very bike friendly place as evidenced by the green bike lane running down the middle of the right side lane going through town and all the bike stands present to lock up the bike.

Main Street in SB is outstanding. 2nd street is too pretentious, and busy for my tastes plus it's full of drunk kids at night. Don't get me wrong Belmont Shores is great. But to each his own. If you're ever in SB you can't go wrong with Beachwood BBQ or Sushi Ryokin (which is actually over by CVS)

Love that.

Except most homes in Mayberry probably weren't 7 figures.
