I was just looking at the crime rates of all the cities in Orange County to see how they compare with each other in terms of crime. Here's what I discovered.

OC City Crime - Safest To Most Dangerous
1. Rancho Santa Margarita
2. Laguna Woods
3. Aliso Viejo
4. Laguna Niguel
5. Yorba Linda
6. Irvine
7. Villa Park
8. Mission Viejo
9. San Clemente
10. Lake Forest
11. La Palma
12. San Juan Capistrano
13. Orange
14. Cypress
15. Laguna Hills
16. Tustin
17. Seal Beach
18. Placentia
19. Dana Point
20. Newport Beach
21. Fountain Valley
22. Huntington Beach
23. Los Alamitos
24. La Habra
25. Garden Grove
26. Laguna Beach
27. Stanton
28. Brea
29. Buena Park
30. Costa Mesa
31. Westminster
32. Fullerton
33. Anaheim
34. Santa Ana

So if you're looking for a safe city in OC to call home, there you go.

The ten most 'UNSAFE' except for Brea all have a lot of street people/homeless. Anaheim, Laguna Beach and Santa Ana have shelters but they always get overcrowded. Car windows get smashed and grabbed, bystanders get punched for no reason, police harassing these people only make matters worse to begin with, many are already mentally ill. There are low income apartments but they are in short supply.

Of course, it still depends to a large extent on your precise location within the city. I lived in La Habra (11th most unsafe) for almost 27 years and never had, or witnessed, any problems.

The list is bogus because they lump crimes that happen in shopping malls. The bigger the shopping mall, the higher the crime rate.

You should never rely only on statistics. Drive around the city to see for yourself

It is interesting to that Brea is ranked in the bottom 3rd. However as it was mentioned, the statistics are not adjusted for this city large day time population attributed from the mall and large business presences. In addition, I will not have imagine Fountain Valley being ranked in the lower half. Probably it suffers from being a neighbor to SA.

I am not proud of what I see in CM, at times, but lower than Stanton that shocks me.

I am inclined to agree that CM might be lower than Stanton because of the mall crime around South Coast Plaza.

lol, this list is ridiculous. You Can't have Anaheim and Santa Ana on the same damn list as RSM. A city of less than 100K vs cities over 300K? That's not how comparisons work.

The cities ranked from 1 - 15 are probably statistically insignificant amongst that grouping. The same is true of the next grouping of 16 - 22 as well as the grouping after that 23 - 32. Then you have the two large cities, Anaheim and Santa Ana.
