...besides Fontucky, that is.

Better yet, anyone have pictures?

Here are some places/things that used to be.

On Via Lido.

Vincent's Drug Store
old Bank of America
Richard's Lido Market
Lido Theater when it had Saturday matinées
Lido Toys
Bidwell's Mens Store
newcomer Security Pacific Bank
Atlantic Richfield station on the corner of Balboa Boulevard
The Cannery when it still was one
St. James Day School
Balboa Savings and Loan
The Blue Dolphin Restaurant

Other Memories

Rendezvous Ballroom
the Portuguese Dory Fleet
your first frozen banana at the Fun Zone
Prison of Socrates (maybe not ''til the 60s)
swimming across the bay
Flight of the Snowbirds
Shark Island
the Hurley Bell Restaurant in Corona Del Mar before it became the Five Crowns
there was no Newport Dunes, it was the Back Bay
when Huntington Beach was also known as Tin Can Beach

Anyone want to add anything else?

Can't understand why my wife says I have constant nostalgia, can you?

My parents used to drive down to the Rendevous in the early 40s.

My dad used to listen to the Big Band concerts broadcast from the Rendevous in the 40's on the radio. I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons he chose So Cal to raise his family.

Bal Week
Scraping the tar off our feet. Endlessly
Watching Dick Powell pump gas
Grunion hunting
Buffalo Ranch

If we bump it up to the 60's I've got a ton of memories.

Good ones! Include the Goofoffers at Richard's with members like John Wayne, Andy Devine, Joey Bishop, Richard Nixon and other "notables" meeting for coffee.

Bump it up! I was there then too.

Jan and Dean and the advent of surf music at the Rendevous and Jose Felliciano entertaining for tips at the Prison of Socrates.

Remember the Golden Bear in Long Beach, not to leave out the Pike?

The Golden Bear was in Huntington Beach. It closed down when Main Street was renovated.
