I have been living in San Clemente for about 2 years now and have not been able to find an apartment (been looking for 6 months on and off). I am practically homeless and am in and out of friends houses. Am I doing something wrong? My budget is 1000-1500(max) since I am paying rent alone (I would also offer the landlord a months rent or 2 months in advance).. I have been able to find studios/1brs for ~1300 but they are taken very quickly, before I even get the chance to see the place in person. I really want it to work out and want my own apartment but it doesn't seem to line up and will not work out for me. Christmas is coming up and I am going to be homeless, car-less and jobless with ~5K in savings (after this final check from a gig i did on craigslist).

Any advice? I've thought of moving but I really like living here.

Work through a property management/rental company as they handle multiple apartments.
